Business Objective

Create a one-stop-shop portal of semiconductor distributors. Enable engineers to purchase semiconductor samples from multiple distributors in one shopping cart.

Background

Most off the shelf e-commerce platforms did not offer the functionality and customization needed to sell industrial products like semiconductors. Even standard solutions available from the large ERP solution providers were not able to easily scale to handle the 100s of thousands of sku's that needed to be managed. Design engineers from all leading electronics manufacturers desperately needed a one-stop shop to order all the samples they need for their designs.

Solution overview

We acquired the industry knowledge and e-commerce behavior emerging in the industry from our client. We designed the database solutions using open source technologies so that the solution could be architected to meet the high scale requirements needed for this situation. We integrated the system with payment gateways to enable credit card transactions with MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. We also developed unique content relevant to the products being sold and made it available so it was optimized for search engines to easily locate and the content to rank high in search results.
